Sambi (Republic of Zambia) – formerly Northern Rhodesia – is a republic in southern Africa. It borders Angola, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia. Its name is derived from the Zambezi River.
As a developing country, Zambia wants to promote its economic ties and attract foreign investment. Relations with its neighbors and the large western states such as the USA, Germany and the former colonial power Great Britain, which donate development aid, are important for Zambia. The most important foreign policy reference point for Zambia in Africa is South Africa. An increasingly important partner is the People’s Republic of China, which is investing in Zambia’s mining and energy sectors.
Zambia is a member of the Southern African Development Community ( SADC ), the Southern and Eastern African Common Market (COMESA) and the African Union.

Zambia: Lusaka
The capital of Zambia is Lusaka. Like many cities in Africa, Lusaka proves that Africa is not only made of wilderness and beautiful landscapes, but also has a modern side. With all the consequences that such developments bring with them. There is a lot of construction going on and some things seem chaotic at first glance. Cars, people, traffic noise and construction noise shape the cityscape at first glance.
But there are also many markets where the Zambians sell their goods, whether fruit, fish or meat, whether car parts or toys or clothes. The capital is growing. New shops are emerging, old buildings are being restored and modern office buildings are reaching the sky. Lusaka is one of the fastest growing cities in central Africa.
